Instagram Meme Page '@on_a_downward_spiral' Has Been Deleted: Time To Check On Your Most Annoying Mutual
One of Instagram's most-notable shitposters, on_a_downward_spiral, was deleted late last night, surprising many on the platform who are avid followers.
The multi-admin meme page started posting back in 2016 but gained its largest following in 2020 when celebrities like Azalia Banks and Anthony Fantano even became a part of its fandom. It started to embody Zoomer, LGBTQ+ and post-ironic discourse on the app, developing the cliche of an "on_downward_spiral follower." It helped to popularize Whisper-posting and TikTok screenshots and created memes like Niche Internet Micro-Celebrity, Me Tryna Hit and I Forgor. The evidence suggests its significance, however, it still didn't matter. They got Zucked like everyone else.
Their community of mutuals reacted accordingly. They posted screenshots of the blank page and added the dog with glasses profile pic to the Meme Heaven template. It even started to be talked about on Twitter, demonstrating the page's cross-platform notoriety. Some even affirmed that it's a bad day for "the most insufferable person you know."

Even though its fans have come out of the shadows to mourn its loss, it's still unknown why exactly the page was deleted. Of course, posting content on the platform that alludes even a little bit to NSFW imagery can result in an instant deletion that's unforgiving. If anything, the deletion of this notable meme page is a warning to anyone flying too close to the sun.
