With 2021 not proving to be a solid year for BlazBlue, something had to be done to rekindle the spark of the community and press the fighting game forward in a space that has had stiff competition in Guilty Gear Strive and Melty Blood: Type Lumina.

That something was done with the announcement of Rollback Netcode being added into BlazBlue Centralfiction. The fans were overjoyed at the announcement and quickly took to social media to talk about the hype surrounding this change.

Why are so many excited about Rollback Netcode? Rollback Netcode is a relatively new but fundamentally important part of online fighting games. Because of the distance and internet connection between two competitors, it is physically impossible for one person to hit a punch button, and the other character to see and react to it in real-time as if they were next to each other.

That's where Rollback Netcode comes into play, as it allows the system to see Fighter A is pressing the punch button and on Fighter B's screen it predicts a fraction of a second into what Fighter A will do, and acts accordingly, giving Fighter B a chance to respond within a more realistic timeframe. If Fighter A does something that was not predicted, such as canceling the punch and going for a jump, then the system will quickly adjust on Fighter B's screen, although it has a prediction success rate of over 90 percent.

Fans who played the game with the new netcode shared their experiences online, with everyone seemingly very happy about it.
