Gamers, stop what you're doing because it's time to settle the question "Is Hunter Schafer a fake gamer?" once and for all.

On Wednesday, a fan account for the actress Hunter Schafer (of Euphoria and Hunger Games fame) reposted a photograph taken of the actress from a Vogue photoshoot.

In the image, Schafer is sitting on a living room floor with a Nintendo Switch in her hand and looking up, presumably, at a television screen.

This image inspired heated debate on Twitter / X, as gamers offered their takes on whether or not this was truly a photograph of a woman gaming.

The issue comes down mainly to where Schafer is looking relative to her Switch. As Switch owners know, when the console is taken out of its dock, it is in portable mode, meaning that the game one is playing will be on the Switch's small screen, and not a television.

Therefore, if this was supposed to be a picture of Hunter Schafer actually playing a video game, some argued she should be looking at the Switch, and not at an offscreen TV.

Other gamers, however, recognized that Schafer could still be in a gaming pose, particularly if she were engaging in the time-honored Switch-owner tradition of "casually playing a game while watching TV."

The world may never agree on whether or not Schafer was accurately depicting a gamer in her Vogue photoshoot, at least not without confirmation from the actress herself.

However, the internet can agree that adopting the posture Schafer holds in the photo, whether she's gaming or not, is a surefire way toward neck and back problems.
