On May 31st, 2024, The Spectator Index[1] posted a showing Joe Biden addressing the media and walking away from the podium as someone asks him to comment on Donald Trump's claim that he is a "political prisoner." Biden can be seen pausing and turning his head before smiling slowly and wordlessly.

Various conservatives reacted negatively to Biden's smile after it received news coverage, with reporter Sage Steele[2] writing, "Honestly, I rarely use the word evil to describe another human being but….." on May 31st, 2024, and gathering over 20,000 likes in three days (seen below).
Later on May 31st, the Trump campaign[3] used Biden's smile in a campaign video that paired the footage with a slogan that read, "It's time to fire Biden." The post gathered over 6,000 likes in three days (seen below).
