Jeopardy! is no stranger to including memes on its program (not to mention spawning a few itself), but on a recent episode, the show may have dug deeper into "Online" culture than it ever has before.

On the July 12th episode, the $2,000 clue in the category "Slang" (theoretically the "hardest" clue in the category), was, "Somewhat akin to down-low is this other low which can precede goated when X is the vibe."

Contestant Mia eagerly buzzed in with the correct response, "What is 'Lowkey Goated When X Is the Vibe?'"

"Lowkey Goated When X Is The Vibe" has been a prominent snowclone or phrasal template for over a year now, and is particularly prevalent on Twitter as a play on Gen Z slang.

The moment was notably celebrated by the meme's creator, Cameron Bradford, but hardly resulted in the media splash some of Jeopardy!'s other forays into meme culture have made.

That being said, there is some history to this goofy television moment. In November, Ken Jennings, who hosted the recent "Goated" episode, tweeted, "I'm gonna stay on Twitter forever just to post stuff like 'Jeopardy! is lowkey goated when clues and categories are the vibe' that no teen ever sees and adults just get mad at."

Twitter user @InternetHippo responded that Jennings needed to "say it on TV," and Jennings, ever game and quite "Online" himself, promised he'd say it before the decade is out.

That exchange did earn some news coverage, as some joked that it was extremely cringe, but regardless, it seems Jennings stayed true to his word, making for a surreal Jeopardy! moment.

Now we'll have to see if Jennings continues to drop his knowledge of memes into Jeopardy! One hopes a day will come when he reads "gang gang ice cream so good yes yes yes slurp" as part of a clue on air.
