Kiryu Coco, a popular VTuber with the Japanese agency Hololive, will be leaving the collective on July 1st.

On Wednesday, dragon girl VTuber Kiryu Coco held a stream, during which she unexpectedly announced that she will be "graduating" from Hololive at the start of July.

Hey guys, this Kiryu Coco. There is an important announcement from me. […] I, Kiryu Coco, I am leaving Hololive. I will continue my activities until July 1st.

During the 11-minute stream, Kiryu Coco, who appeared distraught and holding back tears, said that she could not disclose reasons why she was leaving the collective and asked not to bring the topic of her departure during the streams by other Hololive members.

The reason involves a lot of things, a lot of things I can't talk about, so you won't hear about them from me. […] Please don't ask [other Hololive members] their thoughts on my graduation when everyone is just having fun.[…] There are a lot of unfulfilled dreams that will probably stay that way, but I'm being positive!

Cover Corp, the company behind Hololive, confirmed the news of Coco's graduation in a press release.

We wish to extend our deepest apologies to all the fans and collaborators for this sudden announcement, as well as our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to everyone who supported her activities for the past two years.
We as a company are saddened by her decision to leave, but after much deliberation between both parties, we have decided to honor her wishes.

Coco, who is a 3,500-year-old anthropomorphized dragon, joined Hololive in December 2019 as part of its fourth generation of virtual YouTubers and debuted her 3D model in June 2020. Coco is known for her crude humor and pushing the boundaries of idol behavior, such as by teaching English profanities to other Hololive members during collaboration streams.
