Logan Paul sharing that Pearl is not a mini-pig, left, Pearl after being found by animal sanctuary, right

The Gentle Barn animal sanctuary is going viral on TikTok after sharing a video of what is allegedly influencer Logan Paul's once-pet former pig Pearl, revealing that they found her alone in a field with "life-threatening conditions."

The video was posted earlier today to TikTok and Instagram and details how Pearl was found alone in a field next to another dead pig. The description reveals that she had a "potentially life-threatening infection in her uterus" that has been healed and that "it's believed she was purchased originally from a breeder by an influencer" (though still unconfirmed).

The description goes on to read, "People often buy 'mini pigs' or 'teacup pigs' for clout online, believing they will stay small. When they inevitably grow very large and have many unexpected needs, they're sadly discarded."

@thegentlebarn Pearl was found alone in a field next to another pig who had passed away. She came to us with tattered ears and a potentially life-threatening infection in her uterus that has since been healed. She's clearly been through so much trauma that we can't begin to imagine, but she's now safe with us at The Gentle Barn. From what we've been told, it's believed she was purchased originally from a breeder by an influencer. People often buy "mini pigs" or “teacup pigs” for clout online, believing they will stay small. When they inevitably grow very large and have many unexpected needs, they're sadly discarded. While we don't know everything she's been through in her past, we know her life is now filled with friends, nutritious foods, the highest quality care, and so much love. #pigrescue #animalrescuestory #abandonedanimals #pigsoftiktok #farmanimalrescue #thegentlebarn ♬ Where is My Mind? – Piano Version – The Blue Notes

While Logan Paul isn't specifically named as the ex-owner in the video nor 100 percent confirmed to be the former owner of this particular pig, some internet sleuths are sure that Pearl once belonged to the eldest Paul brother.

According to these accusations, Paul originally got a piglet named Pearl in September 2018 and showed her off on his YouTube channel on the 18th of that month. Paul allegedly believed that Pearl was a teacup pig and would remain small. Paul then showed Pearl off in numerous videos and even started an Instagram page for the animal, which has over 1,000 followers but hasn't posted since October 2018.

Fast-forward two years to February 26th, 2020, when Paul posted a photo of himself and Pearl on Twitter, writing, "I bought pearl over a year ago. I was told she was a mini pig… she’s not." In the photograph, Pearl is seen again, although much larger. When comparing the Pearl in the Twitter photo to the alleged Pearl in the Gentle Barn video, she appears to be the exact same pig based on her colors, markings, size and name in the eyes of many. Additionally, Pearl stopped appearing in videos, seemingly without any explanation, that same year.

Since the Gentle Barn posted the video, the story has gone viral across social media, inspiring some criticism toward Paul for allegedly abandoning the pig. Some are also defending Paul, however, claiming that he rehomed Pearl and her abandonment lies on her new owners' shoulders.

One Twitter user believes Paul is still at fault even if he rehomed the pig, writing, "He didn't abandon her directly but irresponsibly rehomed her to people who did. Why he didn't give her up to a rescue/shelter, I'll never understand." Paul, who is also facing backlash for an alleged crypto scam right now, has not responded to the criticism at the time of writing.

Pearl seems to have been found abandoned back in August, as evidence by a video posted by YouTuber Cid Dwyer that month. In the video, Dwyer reaches out to the original family who Paul gave Pearl to, who share that they are no longer caring for Pearl and rehomed her themselves. A California farmer then reached out to Dwyer to tell him about how he found Pearl with the dead pig and rescued her.
