Gwenyth Paltrow's controversial wellness brand Goop is sharing the secrets of "healthy" living on a new Netflix show: The Goop Lab. The series, which purports the backing of science through the implication of a laboratory, will showcase lifestyle trends, ideas and products, which likely have little-to-no scientific backing.
Starring Goop founder and wellness guru Gwenyth Paltrow, The Goop Lab is a six-episode series that will premiere on Netflix. According to the trailer, Paltrow and Goopies attempt to "milk the shit" out of life by detoxing with psychic mediums and exorcists. Really, that's what's in the trailer.
Goop has long been criticized for promoting misleading products and pseudoscience. In 2018, the company settled a consumer protection lawsuit for $145,000 over their Jade and Rose Quartz eggs, which users put in their vagina to increase "chi, orgasms, vaginal muscle tone, hormonal balance, and feminine energy in general." Of course, this was based on nothing and use of the egg could be unhealthy.
Gynecologist Dr. Jen Gutner said of the egg, "As for the recommendation that women sleep with a jade egg in their vaginas I would like to point out that jade is porous which could allow bacteria to get inside and so the egg could act like a fomite. This is not good, in case you were wondering. It could be a risk factor for bacterial vaginosis or even the potentially deadly toxic shock syndrome."
Cool.
Netflix made the announcement in typical Goop style: By placing a smirking Paltrow at the center of a very suggestive (read: vaginal) background. "Reach New Depths," the poster implores," presumably by putting a jade egg in your vagina.

No one seems to hyped to get back in business with Goop, which is worth $250 million. All over Twitter, people are dunking on the show, particularly the company's bizarre new usage for eggs. After all, the only thing healthy about Goop is making fun of Goop.
A good rule of thumb is that if Gwyneth Paltrow tells you to put something in your vagina, don't do it. https://t.co/vRRn7Sli1F

the most horrifying thing abt this is the word βlabβ which implies some sort of science which goop has NOTHING to do with!! also the boldness of gwynnie coming to us from a vagina -- a place she told us to stick jade eggs!!! this whole show is a danger to our health!! https://t.co/dWRyfPHMTY
