Art the clown meme and tweet.

A sequel to the twice-released Terrifier slasher horror movie from 2016 and 2018, Terrifier 2 has quickly achieved a cult status this Halloween season that has led to its box office release window getting two extensions due to fan interest.

This has been done mostly in part to early reports from moviegoers who reportedly threw up at the sights the film contains, and one particular fan tweeted how their friend passed out and had to get an ambulance called in for them. Supposedly, that's just how scary it is.

The shrieks and fears of people reacting to the new film and its titular clown character "Art the Clown" became so loud that mainstream daytime TV programs (notably The Talk even talked about it) went far outside their usual circle of coverage.

While there were many social media posts about seeing any kill from the movie being traumatizing, which is due to most of the killings being severe in their execution and far from a normal slasher movie, special attention was paid to one particularly gruesome kill with people posting scenes from it and calling it way "past the line" of acceptable or absolutely unhinged.

This also led to some people comparing how the fake killing in Terrifier 2 is causing these types of emotions, but the real-life killings perpetrated by serial killers are glossed over during docuseries made after the fact.

Due to Halloween Ends (apparently not an entirely accurate title) also coming out in October at the same time as Terrifier 2, people naturally began to compare the two or even compare Art the Clown to other horrifying clowns in pop culture, such as Pennywise or Captain Spaulding, with the clear nod being towards Art in this instance.

Also because of how scary the movie is sounding to people online, there is a whole countermovement of people saying they won't go see it, posting their prayers for those that are willing to subject themselves to the movie.
