Paul Dano Cast as Riddler in Matt Reeves' The Batman
Mystery solved: Paul Dano will be asking the questions as The Riddler in director Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman. He joins a cast that includes Robert Pattinson and Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz in DC in Warner Bros. reboot of the Caped Crusader.
Dano, who has appeared in such films There Will Be Blood and the television miniseries Escape at Dannemora, will be making his superhero film debut as Edward Nash aka The Riddler, who goes by Edward Nigma in the comics. In addition to the Ridder, the film will include a number of classic Batman villains, including Catwoman, who will be played by Kravitz.
The actor and director isn't known for making blockbusters, opting for artier fare like critically-acclaimed awards contenders There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine and 12 Years a Slave. Considering his pickiness, it could lead some to believe that the pitch and script for The Batman are pretty good, especially considering Pattinson, who has spent the last decade shedding the glitter of Twilight from his resume has signed on don the cape and cowl.
Needless to say, the casting, like all things Batman, has created a lot for people to chew over online.
Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Jonah Hill NOT involved is my idea of a very promising movie!

Robert Pattinson in a weird animal mask investigating crimes done by a sexy Zoe Kravitz and smarmy Paul Dano still sounds like something A24 would acquire at TIFF and debut a year later on like 146 screens to the tune of maybe $5 million max.

The Batman casting also made headlines this week, as Jonah Hill declined to play a mysterious role in the film, which many have surmised may have been the Penguin.
However, while it's certainly a disappointment that Hill won't be joining such a fantastic cast, one man has stepped up to the plate, and he's both the Penguin that we need and deserve.
Ok, Jonah Hill passed. Clearly the next move for Penguin has to be someone familiar with marine biology. Ahem.
