PETA Makes Another Chart, This Time Suggesting Terms To Use To Avoid "Speciesism"

PETA, the animal rights organization that frequently finds itself embroiled in controversies on Twitter, have waded into their latest controversy while everyone is trying to figure out the stock market. This time, they have offered some alternatives to animal-related insults to consider in the pursuit of a more inclusive world.

This strongly resembles PETA's Stop Anti-Animal Language campaign from late 2018 which argued phrases like "grab the bull by the horns" could be replaced by "take the flower by the thorns." At least this time, their replacement suggestions are actual synonyms for the words they want to be replaced.

Nevertheless, PETA's campaign rubbed most people the wrong way, as people felt the co-opting of social justice language in the service of anti-animal bullying was severely out of touch with the current moment.

Thankfully, people fired off some good jokes about what most saw as a silly attempt to drum up needless controversy.

While the entire timeline is filled with amateur stonk market analysts, at least PETA jumped in to be a welcome B plot for the day.
