Ticketmaster, just months removed from ticking off one of the world's most volatile demographics (Taylor Swift fans), has once again drawn the ire of social media for its apparent intent on ensuring that tickets for The Cure are not cheap.

In a viral screenshot circulating on Twitter, a fan apparently went to buy tickets to see the seminal goth rock gods before coming to the realization they wouldn't exactly be affordable.

The four tickets themselves cost $80 in total, but Ticketmaster's myriad fees made that price balloon to a whopping $172.10. That means Ticketmaster's fees were more than double the price of the original tickets.

To make matters worse, The Cure had deliberately set out to make sure tickets to their North American tour were affordable. The group refused to use Ticketmaster's infamous dynamic pricing system (which can make ticket prices soar if there's intense demand), and stated that tickets would not be "transferable," meaning scalpers couldn't resell tickets at a high markup.

Despite this, Ticketmaster has purportedly made a single $20 ticket to see The Cure actually a $43 ticket with a "service fee," a "facility charge" and an "order processing fee."

The news angered music lovers on social media, as many voiced they believed that Ticketmaster's price gouging had gotten out of control. Those music lovers included The Cure's very own Robert Smith.

Smith is apparently furious at Ticketmaster fleecing his fans and has tweeted that he is demanding answers from the company — which, so far, has been silent.

The Cure is far from the only act whose fanbase is incensed about Ticketmaster's alleged price gouging.

As the viral screenshot of The Cure tickets circulated, a Drake fan reported that two $250 tickets to see the rapper would have been over $1,000 had he made the purchase, on account of Ticketmaster's extra fees.
