Twitter Flabbergasted By Dramatic Telenovela Scene Where It Feels Like 800 Characters Dramatically Pull Out Guns
There's incredible television culture all around the globe, and Western social media users were reminded of the wide swath of pop culture outside the English-speaking world when an incredible and absurd clip from the Filipino telenovela Wildflower began going viral on Twitter this morning.

Suffice it to say, there's a lot going on in this clip. A young man enters with a gun pulled on his apparent rival, which in turn causes basically all of the people in the room to draw guns from seemingly every possible location.
Highlights include an older man holding a two-ended cane with one hand and drawing a gun from underneath a pillow with his other. With all the guns drawn, what follows is a tense situation in which several characters change their target to another person.
The video was initially posted by Tagalog-speaking user @altstarmagic with a caption joking about how the clip highlighted "today's issues with Twitter," but it hit English Twitter when user @sagiterrorist8 posted it with the caption, "I cant watch a Filipino telenovela.. cause wtf is this??"
The clip quickly went viral, racking up hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets in a matter of hours. Many enjoyed the absurdity of the scene and wished Western TV could be so, shall we say, "daring."
Those familiar with Wildflower were more than happy to note that the 30-way Mexican standoff in the viral scene was but one of the many wild moments that pepper the telenovela.

Wildflower racked up an incredible 254 episodes in less than one year on air, running four seasons from February 2017 to February 2018. One wonders if that ridiculous output contributed to some of the show's more absurd moments.
