'Twitter' Has Finally And Officially Become 'X,' And Users Mourn The Blue Bird

Elon Musk and X leadership have finally completed the final step in taking over the site once known as Twitter, and have officially changed the domain name and URL to "X.com."

They finally did it

Since Musk took Twitter over in late 2022, it's no secret to say he's made a number of bewildering decisions, many of which were not well received, but one of the oddest was rebranding the site to X.

"Twitter" was a well-established brand name when Musk got control of it, and was, in the eyes of many, far less awkward to say than "X," a letter that's been a lifelong Musk obsession and also has connotations to adult entertainment.

Despite Twitter staff declaring that Twitter was now "X" in July 2023, the change didn't exactly "take" for the majority of the platform's users, in large part because the site retained the iconic blue bird logo and the URL remained "Twitter.com."

Now, 10 months after Musk and co. announced that "Twitter" had become "X," Twitter has officially become X.

The change was not met fondly by numerous users, as many have resisted the name change ever since it was put into motion.

Worst rebrand in history

Furthermore, users are reporting that extensions they had in place for Twitter no longer function, and some users are reporting they have been logged out and are having difficulty logging back in due to the URL change.

Then again, one could argue that it wouldn't be a change on "X" under Elon Musk if it didn't cause massive headaches for the site's users.
