The meme was created by TikToker @ratomilton in early January 2025 and was later turned into a dance trend after streamer and YouTuber IShowSpeed posted a video recreating the rat's dance moves.
The cover photo is being described by some a "garish" and "sinister," even as some Republicans claim that the media can't help but "make us look cool."
