I know this is an argument for the whole "sword users" complaint, but now I really just want an energy-based Mii Fighter.

Well, in technicality, there's more "energy" fighters. Samus, R.O.B., Megaman, Gunner, Fox, and Falco use energy. In Fox and Falco's case, they also use punches/kicks.
