Ad income is based on how many people view/click on an ad, and Reddit gets most of it's income from gold and ads. In the image, Reddit would not make any money, effectively killing the site the users enjoy. The reason so many sites ask you to turn off AdBlock is that would mean the site would lose income. Sorry for the semi-long post.
