Highlights in the early game alone include Metapod not moving out of fear of accidentally breaking its shell thus causing its organs spill out, and Drifloon apparently being pop-able with, and I quote, a screaming sound as its soul flies out.

Just doing away with all that pesky subtext and admitting that Pokemon are empowered animals that eat each other.
