"In the Unova region, neither Pikachu nor Mimikyu are native species; when Mimikyu arrived in the Unova region, it quickly learned that a completely different mouse was a revered cultural icon in the country surrounding Unova. As such, it took on the appearance of that well-known mascot, though it used so much black ink in creating its disguise that it became difficult to see through it. This, along with the abundance of alleyways in the urban region, caused it to become acclimated to the darkness. And yet it still desires the love of people, and now, there are no other Pokémon who resemble the particular mascot to interfere!"
