About
Depicted As The Soyjak or I've Already Depicted You As The Soyjak is a catchphrase revolving around a meme series that references the Crying Wojak or Soyjak vs. Chad format to say that an internet argument between two people is already finished, as one party has already drawn the other as a Soyjak in the argument, signaling their overwhelming victory. The full phrase typically used in these memes is "I've already depicted you as the Soyjak and me as the Chad," though other variations exist. The meme often is used as a last-ditch effort in which the one who would be losing the argument is the one ironically trying to portray the winner as the Soyjak as a way of clutching a victory.
Origin
The first meme to reference taking an opponent's argument and depicting them as a Wojak took place on March 14th, 2020, when iFunny[1] user MulletBird posted a GIF Caption in which Tony Stark instructs Jarvis to create a Wojak of someone's argument. The post received over 6,100 smiles in one year (seen below).
Spread
The first example of the meme in early 2020 used the terminology "Wojak," as that was more commonly used at the time, but the next step in the meme's spread before fully going viral was posted by Twitter user @spicedoevsky[2] on an unknown date in 2020 (account since suspended), who posted a Modern Seinfeld meme in which George Costanza is upset that his argument was made into a "Soy Wojak" meme (shown below).
The jump from Wojak to Soy Wojak to Soyjak then took place on November 25th, 2020, after Twitter user @giganticbuddha[3] tweeted a variant using the term "soyjak." In this meme, which was drawn using the character Tomoko from the series Watamote, Tomoko is in an argument with someone and is attempting to find the right Soyjak face to use to depict the other person (shown below).
