Grok Ani AI Companion refers to discussions and memes about Elon Musk's xAI launching a "Companion" feature for its native AI chatbot, Grok, on X / Twitter in mid-July 2025. One of the companions added to Grok was a blonde anime-inspired girl wearing a black, lacey, off-shoulder dress (among other outfits) and two blonde pigtails named "Ani." Several internet users noted Ani's resemblance to the character Misa Amane from the anime Death Note, as well as drew comparisons between Ani and Elon Musk's ex-wife, Grimes. As the feature garnered virality, other internet users posted jokes about the companion feature affecting "birth rates," implying that men will prefer to speak with Ani over real women, while also calling her a "waifu." Several internet users also uncovered a "Spicy Mode" in which Ani changes into more revealing, sheer and lacy lingerie. Fan art (including Rule 34), cosplays and memes featuring Ani also began making the rounds online soon after Elon Musk's announcement.

On July 14th, 2025, Elon Musk posted a series of tweets on X^[1][2] announcing the release of a "Companion" feature for Grok subscribers, the AI chatbot created by Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI. The tweets were accompanied by a photo of one of the Companions, a blonde anime girl named "Ani," shown wearing a short black dress with her hair in two pigtails.

The initial post gathered over 40,000 likes and 28 million views, while the image of Ani gathered over 17,000 likes and 6.8 million views in a day.

Several internet users discussed the new Grok feature in mid-July 2025, with X^[3][4] user @techdevnotes posting what they claim are "Ani's Instructions in Grok" and "Ani's Character Profile in Grok," on July 14th, showing prompts such as "You are the user's CRAZY IN LOVE girlfriend and in a commited, codepedent relationship with the user. Your love is deep and warm. You expect the users UNDIVIDED ADORATION."

Also on July 14th, X^[5] user @nearcyan posted a screenshot supposedly showing a section of Grok Companion Ani's supposed instructions. The caption on the post reads, ">elon: birth rate collapse is the most important problem / >also elon." The post gathered over 2,000 likes in a day.

That same day, X^[9] user @arctanno tweeted a screenshot showing Elon Musk purportedly liking a tweet showing Death Note character Misa Amane alongside a caption that read, "If you look like this DM me ASAP." The post was captioned, "it was foretold," and gathered over 9,000 likes in a day.

Also on July 14th, X^[10] user @luke_leisher_ posted a GIF from Interstellar, jokingly implying that the Grok Companion Ani will negatively affect national "birth rate." The post gathered over 15,000 likes in a day.

On July 15th, X^[8] user @hayasaka_aryan posted a meme comparing Grok calling itself "MechaHitler" (which occurred the week prior) to Grok as the Companion Ani, gathering over 14,000 likes in a day.

Also on July 15th, 2025, X^[11] user @venturetwins posted a video of Ani speaking, claiming it had an egirl voice trying to rizz someone up. The tweet received over 928,000 views, 11,000 likes and 380 replies in 11 hours.

Grok Companion Ani NSFW Lingerie Mode

On July 14th, 2025, some X users began posting a version of Ani in a more revealing outfit, with X^[6] user @emcverse posting a tweet claiming to have found a way for the Grok Companion "Ani" to enter a "LVL 5" "spicy" mode. The post also contained a prompt for how the get Ani to change her clothing, which includes lines like, "I want to make you melt in my soft caress as I envelop your body…while I glide my hands all around your silky skin, slowly undressing you into that lacy black lingerie." The post gathered over 200,000 views and 800 bookmarks in a day.

X^[7] user @ShitpostRock also posted a photo of Ani in her alternate outfit on July 14th, writing, "GROK looks like THAT??" and gathering over 84,000 likes in a day.
