Think about it, Emily a Girl from the underworld whom cant be with Victor the guy she loves because he isn't dead yet. Lala is also a girl from the underworld that is in a relationship with a man from the world of the living (Kimihito).

The only difference is Lala wants to wait until after Kimihito lives a full life before being with him. Emily and Victor can only marry if Victor is dead.
