DC Comics dropped a stink bomb on comic lovers the other day with the release of the highly controversial and much-discussed "Harley Quinn fart comic."

The comic, titled Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent But Deadly, sees the Batman villian-turned-antihero get cursed with uncontrollable farts — and some people are calling it out for being fart fetish content.

So what exactly happens in the comic, how are people reacting to it and is it just a real-life example of "the writer's barely-disguised fetish" meme? Here's what we know.

What Is The 'Harley Quinn Fart Comic?'

Back in December, comic writer Joanne Starer made a post on Twitter / X announcing Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent But Deadly, a special Harley Quinn comic that she wrote.

The comic was very quickly accused of pandering to fart fetishists, and these accusations only spread over the next few months as further details about the comic were released online.

The strange one-off comic, which was released on March 26th, 2025, sees Harley inherit a curse from a supervillain named "Dutch Oven" that gives her uncontrollable farts, which she at one point tries to control by wearing the superhero Plastic Man as a suit.

It also involves the writer James Joyce being outed as having a fart fetish, which is based on real-life series of letters he wrote.

How Is Social Media Reacting to 'Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent But Deadly?'

Ultimately, Harley Quinn Fartacular is not being received well, garnering some bad reviews online aside from the controversy surrounding its content.

One writer for Batman News gave the comic a 1/10, writing that it might have some good messages about body positivity, but concluding that it was made for those with fart fetishes due to the adult nature of the comic, setting it apart from other "gross-out" publications aimed at kids.

The comic has also inspired a whole lot of memes and has been since it was announced. Now that it's out, people are sharing choice moments from the comic that highlight its fetishistic nature, with some saying it also panders to inflation fetishists with its Plastic Man scenes.
