I think it's humanizing for characters suffer loss in a way we can relate to.

Of course, they're heroes, so the point of the loss is ultimately to build them and push them toward resolution.

But it's nice to see characters to show vulnerability in an enobling way.

To be fair, Link looks a little broken up too.
