Notes

Sometimes I like to look back at other M to try to figure out what went wrong, and what went right. I used to focus on the good aspects of the gameplay like being able to jump on enemies for a finishing move. And the dodge mechanic. The on ground controls were pretty alright, although why it HAD to be a side held wii-mote I'll never know.

There were times where I was able to pin the source of the issue back to localization problems, because of Japanese mentalities with the military and all that jazz, as well as finding emotionless protagonists as cool.

The writing choices could really easily just be attributed to someone who had no real grasp of how to make their ideas work, so instead of having Samus give up on life because Ridley came back from a goddamn planet blowing up, you have Samus having a PTSD attack because Ridley is… standing menacingly. After killing him without hesitation numerous times. Having the baby metroid be capable of becoming a queen makes sense too, what with how massive they became in super. Then they just threw plot threads out the window into the vacuum of space never to be seen again. So I figured someone just had no idea what they were doing with the plot. Fine. Bad, but that can be looked past.

Then there was the characterization nonsense that I really don't want to get into right now.

But this? THIS?!? This has no excuse. There was no reason for this. NONE. There is no justification for having her drop more than a foot in height. The power suit barely adds like, a few inches in the games. I can't find a reason that doesn't sound at least slightly sexist.

On that note, know that a lot of things that happened in other m seem to stem from trying to appeal to a Japanese audience. Problem: Even the very few Japanese of Metroid fans hated what this game did to Samus. All it did was make everyone who liked the series angry. It showed a complete misunderstanding of why people like the series and what the appeals are of Samus Aran as a whole. Add that to the man in charge of this game declaring the prime games as all non-canon just really makes it hard for me to not find something at least a little sketchy with what his reasons were for any and all of his choices.

Sorry for dumping all of this on you, I just found this to be the absolute worst thing I found out about the game. This was deliberate, and I had to remind people just how awfully this game butchered everything.
