Sorry to break your bubble but 8-4 is the one who localized this game, not Treehouse.

8-4 is the same team that did Awakening for better or worse.

I wonder how much of this is Treehouse's doing. Because if it is mostly their hand in it, then I'm surprisingly pleased. A dorky layer definitely helps Alm stand out since for the most part, he does feel like a pretty generic protagonist. Plus I think Treehouse's need to be meme-y sacks of shit works better when it's away from the main story and support dialogue. Like I doubt anyone is gonna get truly upset over them "demeaning" the rich lore of a pile of barrels. …Unless Alm goes, "rawr rrrrrrgh. That's barrel for I love you," of course.
