I will have to say, the original It and the new one really do have their own charm to themselves. Tim Curry It, though not as scary as the newer one, gives off the tone of dark humor while the new one goes for the actual horror approaches.

I can actually go far to say that you really can't compare the original and the new, though the source material is the same, they're too different to truly compare. They're like Fraternal twins if you may.
