<p>Nanana's Buried treasure is unique in that it tried in a non overbearingly PC way to explain to people what an otoko no ko is. While no part of that word or what she says means he (see video) the translation "He's a trap" says it using the vernacular of western anime fans, many of whom, it seems, see folks like Daruku <i>exclusively</i> in terms of their own perception, gender norms and sexuality. While clearly Japanese Otaku do not see it that way.

Shimone chan the official Otoko no ko (trap) of Shimotsuma-city, Ibaragi Prefecture

She is probably the greatest otoko no ko (trap) character ever to never be heard of in the west. She does not appear in any anime or manga but instead is the <a href="http://www.city.shimotsuma.lg.jp/page/page000589.html">official mascot of a city in Japan, Shimotsuma-City, Ibaragi Prefecture</a>. It would be like if a midsize western city had a trans woman as the official icon.

The reason many otaku think she is meant to be an otoko no ko is because of her wings, which have a coloration similar to the male sex of Japan's national butterfly, sasakia charonda, the Great Purple Emperor. Shimotsuma is in the region which is that butterfly's natural habitat.

An original creation made to express that so-called traps are not trying to trap anyone. They, like their real life counterparts, are just being themselves going about their lives. If you find them attractive don't defame them by feeling trapped. Direct your feelings of being tricked/trapped towards either the anime artist or... God IRL.
