The main issue with the tournament is that , yeah, it really doesn't feel like a tournament. Every universe just sort of sat around and waited for their turn to take on someone from U7. Sure, a few times U6 helped, and we got minor amount of 11. But we really should have seen more of the universe fighting each other.

That, and, barring U6 and U7's interactions, there really is no story to grasp onto. It's still a lot of cool fights, and it's great to see so many of the cast be given a chance in the spotlight. But it is lacking in substance as far as plot goes.

You know what the arc failed to reach the full potential of its premise, but still is for now the best thing to come out of Super because it let older character return, be relevant, made some interesting characters interaction (Roshi and Vegeta, the androids and Goku and many many more). Also it gave everyone a moment in the sun (except Vegeta who is jobbing next episode weirdly). Also out of all of the characters the winner who came out with the most fans is Number 17, who has stolen the show for me and many others, I hope Super keeps using him.
