We bombed Hiroshima because the Japanese would never surrender otherwise. If you look at the battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, you'd see that the Japanese fought back bitterly and desperately down to the last man and even resorted to using civilians as human shields. An invasion of the Japanese mainland would be even more devastating for both sides.

You honestly don't understand honor then. The Japaneses army, air force and what remained of their navy would have fought till the last man, regardless of how doomed the rest of the world saw them. You think the Soviets had little regards to life? The Japaneses threw themselves at Soviet armor with oil explosives and knives and pistols, sacrificing ten of themselves just to kill one soviet tank.
