That's exactly the conclusion I would imagine Bowser taking.

Huh… Not the route I thought she'd take… This makes me hopeful for a sweet and happy ending, as it looks like it's taking a bit of a comedic turn with Bowsette makes a fool of herself in her desperation. Instead of going full force and kicking our hearts in the dick.
