Most followers on Skyrim are simply there to help / look sexy / do whatever you want. Oddly for me, the moment I got a 40 gold bounty for stealing and a guard approached me, I was about to pay it. Suddenly, Bowsette pops into view and chops the dude's head off. She goes on a rampage, killing every guard nearby even though I didn't have my weapon drawn. Felt it was something to remember my overly protective follower by.
