He's a just trying to keep his adopted kids fed! $20 a year is cheaper than other consoles' subscription services. What right do we have to Nook's a slumlord who entraps tennants with forced mortgage schemes, monopolizes the village economy, & forces his employees into fiscal slavery! They're inconsistently holding games ransom, crippling communities of loyal players for a feature no one seems to want or understand! Just like tanukis in folklore have shifted from tricksters to symbols of commerce, later games frame Nook as an upstanding entrepreneur & philanthropist you can hire to build your house! You can't keep criticizing Nintendo for being behind the curve on online features & then ALSO get mad when they try to catch up! Empathetic capitalism is a myth.
