It's not that people are upvoting Steve from Minecraft getting gassed, it's that this particularly hideous, homunculus-Steve model has been plaguing the gallery for months.
Desiring Steve to be in Smash is fine, as unlikely as it is. If it does happen I'm sure they'd make one that's aesthetically pleasing. But do you really want that thing staring you down every time it's on screen?
