"This may be our last chance. Help us save copyright in Europe.

On Mar. 26 the European parliament will vote on the new copyright directive. The directive will give editors the power to limit the spread of news and titles in any 3rd party site (article 11). It will also force nearly all sites to preventively analyze all their users' contributions to automatically block them if they are not authorized by the copyright industries (article 13).

Both of these articles risk dealing a damning blow to free expression, participation, and creativity online. While Wikipedia may not be directly affected by these rules, our project is part of the Internet's ecosystem. Articles 11 and 13 would weaken the web, and would weaken Wikipedia.

The vote is imminent.

Please dedicate 2 minutes of your time to contact your representatives in the European Parliament and tell them they cannot approve a directive containing Article 11 or Article 13."
