Most of these redesigns have nothing in common with the original vision for the character and little consideration of that characters personality and unique qualities an thus, fail to be an acceptable visual approximation of the character.

And then there's the politically motivated redesigns, those are another, much more disgusting and repulsive can of worms. Specifically the kind of worms that bite into your flesh and try to eat your hand inside out.
