It's funny because going to the dentist is a very relatable experience, and many have shared a similar disconnect to the bleeding caused during a normal cleaning procedure and the cause of the bleeding as described by the dentist. Though this comic uses considerable exaggeration for comedic effect, it highlights the surprise or confusion some patients experience when told that their oral bleeding is caused by chronic bacterial infection as opposed to abrasions or cuts from metallic objects as they might have originally thought.
