The real question is why so many LGBT people side with communism to begin with. I thought the countries that were the most vocal about banning everything even tangentially related to LGBT life were communist countries in second place, only outdone by Middle Eastern countries..? I know there are separate parties that support them, but those are mostly Western parties in some non-communist countries and have done little in the way of influencing actual communist governments themselves, which is less helpful and more virtue signalling to get support for them, if you ask me. Hell, some Marxist ideologists even correlate homosexuality with fascism, and that has been going for about a century now.

You would think them to be more sided with countries that actually have written laws against discrimination, yet here we are.

I think it's more of a common correlation with wokeness. Woke people like communism (or rather, anti-capitalism in the form of a college kid's idealistic conception of communism), so there's a strong tendency for the woke type of LGBT people to be in on that.
