There is a demographic crisis which has been approaching regardless of anime. The solution to this is not overpopulating an already environmentally strained and resource-conflict-ridden planet, it is finding ways to care for the elderly with fewer people.
I think the coronavirus is showing how many things we might not need. (and thus, we might be able to produce essentials with a smaller workforce)
