If you haven't seen House of Cards, there's a scene in the 1st season where the character Mrs. Cards reveals that she's a serious politician (and also a sociopath) by selling out a rape victim live on CNN.

A member of the Democratic Party recently did version of that scene by lying about the New York Times discrediting claims.
