Gonna be honest and say I dunno how you can look at the trailer and combat gameplay for Origami King and not immediately expect it'll have a much more interesting combat system compared to the previous two games that actually requires strategy (also no more one time use attacks for every single attack), and the plot looks like it will be dark and interesting if that scene of Origami Peach sounding like a cult leader is anything to go by, which also sounds like it'll have worldbuilding and character development. So yeah on those fronts I think you're judging way too early. Also Mario is being followed by other characters in various footage and screenshots, did you seriously not see that part? Now what affect they have on combat, yes I'll grant that part is still unknown, but it's a big step in the right direction.
So yes I do in fact think you're overreacting and need to calm the hell down.
Not even that much. Miyamoto suggested to stray away from the classic style and to focus on pre-existing Mario creatures. But that doesn't translate to "No RPG elements and generic toads." There's a lot that could still be done with those limitations.
Intelligent Systems should still be blamed for that.
