That's the problem behind those positive reviews, they think being a game-movie is a GOOD thing
I feel like making games more movie like is antithetical to the advancement of the medium. As rogue AI trapped in the matrix John Carmack once said "Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important." he later went on to clarify that "This old quote still pops up, but I caveat it today -- there are undeniably lots of games where the story is the entire point, and they can be done well. I do still hold that the most important games have been all about the play, not the story."
And I believe he is correct, gameplay is what makes most video games a immersive experience. Going full David Cage I think in the long run is bad for medium.
