Well 2014 and 2015 saw a rise of ISIS and their terror attacks which saw a wave of alt right sentiment and anti immigration stuff in response, ending the creationist and small gov mantra for the online right.

It also naturally meant SJWs to counter them and to double down on progressive sentiment. Legalization of gay marriage also made people think it was safer to talk about more radical gender and sexuality issues.

While Gamergate did not start the alt right, ISIS did that, it was a taste of the internet culture war and the fact that pink capitalism would be a thing.

BLM also starts at this time and more radical approaches to race issues are discussed. Coupled with gay marriage and pink capitalism, corporations try to go more woke and the alt right feels embolden. Auth Left and Lib right are left scratching their heads at Lib Left and Auth right's culture war.

A PERFECT RECIPE.

Yup this clinches it. Gay marriage really was a spark and would explain how vast amounts of Twitter users transformed into putting their entire identities in their bios. I also knew Gamergate had something to do with it but I couldn't put my finger on how to link it. You broke down everything well, thank you.
