It's funny because depending on how you look at it, this is either an incredibly pro-racial equality thing to do or a very racist thing to do.

If you're doing it because slavery is unethical, it's good.

If you're doing it because you don't want black people in America, it's racist.

Interesting scenario regardless, though.

There's also the pragmatist argument of it creating America's biggest cultural weakness.

There's a lot of countries that wouldn't give a fuck, but America was supposed to be not just a liberal state, but the liberal state. Yes, let's create a state with no royals, your religion doesn't matter (you can be a crazy hippie deist or too fanatical for your home country's state church, we don't care) but oh yeah let's keep slavery, despite it not being economical (at the time…) and historically very controversial in English culture.
