Basically Bethesda's hubris got the best of them. Sure we knew their games were buggy for a long time but it still says something that in spite of the bugginess the games were beloved for their memorable worlds, characters, and quests. Even Fallout 4 is still beloved by many even if the RPG elements may not have been as prominent as prior entries (and to his credit, Todd Howard admitted the trimmed out dialogue system was a mistake in hindsight). FO76 was a bad case of rushing out a product in hopes it'd sell on name recognition and "back of the box selling points" alone.

With Microsoft now managing Bethesda one can hope we see a "Bethesda redemption arc" in the near future where Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 end up being great games, and hopefully with much less bugs than usual since Microsoft will likely put their own QA teams in charge.

I'm a little weirded out that the people who they decided to lay the blame on are the people who are forced to make the shitty games by higher ups. I guarantee the only people who were fine with the state of 76 were the people not actually working on it.
