The guy in right corner actually came from fujiko f fujio (Creator of Doraemon) short story which quite dark.

I don't remember the name but the story is the guy came back from the war (hint to be WW2) and find his home village in ruin, everyone he knew die including his grilfriend.

He also remember one crazy oldman behind iron bar who constantly urge him to kiss his girlfriend, this guy also die not long after his girlfriend pass away.

While walking among the ruin, he somehow got transport to the past and see his younger self and his girlfriend.

He is very excite and rush to his younger self, try to warn him not to go to war, but got caught by his father.

The father believe him to be a madman so he lock our protagonist behind bar, this is when the reader learn that our protagonist was "The mad man behind bar" all along. Classic time loop story.
