Yumboes are a type of fairy from the folklore of the Wolof tribe of Senegal. Apart from their habit of stealing corn from humans, the Yumboes are all around wonderful little creatures which simply summarised are African Hobbits. They spend most of their time holding large feasts, to which they invite both native and foreign humans to join them, and dancing in the moonlight after getting drunk. They are attended on by almost invisible servants, which only have visible hands and feet. Sometimes they will choose to protect and care for a particular family. When a member of one of these families die, they will mourn with the relatives and try to console them as best they can. They will then dance upon the graves of the deceased, but this is seen as a mark of respect in Wolof culture.
