Yesterday at 7:53 PM the sonic franchise is a true innovator within the games industry and, whether you like it or not, ultimately, pretty much every other major game studio ends up copying their innovations eventually For example, Sonic '06 pioneered the modern AAA practice of rushing development, shipping games that are horribly buggy and unfinished to meet an arbitrary investor-mandated deadline, and then not fixing the very fixable flaws of the game buuuuuuuut being more than happy to sell a bunch of DLC for it (edited) cough skyrim cough . I'm pretty well convinced this is why everyone still hates that game. Not because it was exceptionally bad by today's gaming standards, but rather, because it showed the rest of the industry that they can easily just force unfinished slop out the door and make a fat short-term profit off it (edited) If '06 had actually killed Sonic as a franchise, or even Sega as a whole, the rest of the industry would've stood up and taken note and avoided their mistakes, rather than electing to gradually normalize that sort of failure
