In Chapter 2-3 of Super Paper Mario, the villain Mimi tricks Mario into paying off a debt of one million Rubees, a special currency that can only be earned by performing tasks within that chapter. The intended way of completing the chapter is to take the 1,000,000 Rubees out of a safe, so that Mario only has to legitimately earn a small amount that he exchanges for information about the safe. However, it is actually possible to earn the 1,000,000 Rubees legitimately without touching the safe. You got 18000 Rubees. Out of the two tasks used to earn Rubees, the hamster wheel is the more efficient one. Each frame of running, Mario earns 0.5 Rubees, which translates to 1800 Rubees a minute. However, the payout for each time entering the wheel is capped at 18000 Rubees (left), and it takes 20 seconds of optimal movement to exit, take the payout, and reenter the wheel. As such, it takes 55 runs of 10 minutes to earn 990,000 Rubees, and a final run of 5 minutes and 34 seconds to earn 10,000 more Rubees for a total of one million. Adding to that 55 breaks of 20 seconds for payouts, we get 573 minutes and 54 seconds, or 9 hours, 33 minutes and 54 seconds to earn 1,000,000 Rubees legitimately.
