Let's go over this again.

The problem with the Trump travel restriction from China is that it was exactly that – a ban would have actually made sense. Instead we let people in based on their nationality rather than their exposure to the (at the time localized) pandemic. If an American guy and a Chinese guy were together in the same room both coughing their lungs out, we point at the first guy and say, "You seem cool to put on an airplane full of people. Not the other guy, though."

"From" China, not "To" China. Also, banning Chinese people from coming over did not mean anything, because Americans that were coming back from traveling, even if infected, was perfectly fine with Trump.
